Trauma and Cumulative Trauma – Play Therapy Interventions

Jeff Ashby, PhD, ABPP, RPT-S, is a professor in the department of counseling and psychological services at Georgia State University. He is the director of Georgia State’s Counseling Psychology doctoral program, a licensed psychologist, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Ashby has taught ethics at the graduate level for over 20 years and has served as the chair of the Ethics Committee of the International Association of Play Therapy and as an ethics content expert with the State of Georgia Psychology board. He has made over 100 presentations at professional conferences and authored/co-authored more than 80 articles in refereed journals, numerous book chapters, and two books.

Dr. Ashby received a BA in psychology and english literature from the University of Kansas, an MEd in counseling and school psychology from Wichita State University, and a PhD in counseling psychology from Penn State.

This workshop will focus on trauma and cumulative and how to use play therapy interventions. This workshop will highlight the key points of trauma and cumulative trauma experienced by the client populations in today’s world.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received at least 5 days prior to OKAPT conference are refundable. Cancellations received less than five days before the OKAPT conference will receive no refund but will receive a credit towards next year’s conference unless extreme circumstances exist.  In this case, a letter explaining the extreme circumstances will be submitted to the OKAPT Board for consideration of a refund or credit. No shows will receive no refund or credit. You must be present for the entire training to receive credit. Play therapy credit will not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.  If OKAPT needs to cancel the conference, we will make every attempt to let paid registrants know as soon as possible.  All paid registrants will receive a full refund or full credit towards next conference.  Weather Cancellation Policy: Should a course need to be cancelled for bad weather, all paid registrants will be notified as soon as possible. Re-schedule date will be provided and full credit given.  This policy is in place only if OKAPT cancels due to weather.

OKAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer content specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider is 00-091.
