Hello Fellow OKAPT Members,

Hope this month’s message finds everyone safe and healthy.

Time is flying by! Hard to believe it’s already the end of August, summer is over and kids are back in school. As we get adjusted to new routines and school/work schedules, I pray each and every one of you are giving yourself some grace, love and understanding. There is a lot going on and adjusting to new routines can be tedious. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves what we would tell our clients. Before you know it everyone will be well adjusted and things will be as though you have been doing it forever. You all are amazing people and Therapists! Don’t ever forget that!

A huge THANK YOU! to all our members who were able to attend our first Summer Conference. We, the OKAPT Board, appreciate you all so much for making this event a success. Our main goal for the Conference was the presentation and voting of the proposed bylaws we had been diligently working on for several years. We couldn’t have passed the new bylaws without you. That’s right Members, the proposed bylaws were passed at the conference. Woohoo!! Winning!!

We look forward to seeing those who attended and our members and non-members who were unable to attend at the end of January for the Oklahoma Association for Play Therapy Annual Conference. Our hope is that by January we will be in a better place with COVID restrictions to network, do interactive hands on activities and much more socializing, a sediment expressed by many of our members and board members. We also hope to see many of you in October at the Association for Play Therapy Annual Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. It’s not too late to register if you haven’t already!

Lastly, as a spouse of a 25 year Army Veteran and a person who has worked as a clinician with the military population for the last 10 years, please take a moment to pray for the families of our fallen Heroes, our Service Members, their families, our Veterans, their families, and our allies. If you know any check on them, they may not be okay. Their lives are changed forever. They will not return the same person. Family members lives will also be changed. I personally have friends and family from all branches affected by these tragedies, some are not okay. Check on them! Check on their family!

Very respectfully,
